Getting Goals, Testimonies, and Referrals #
The thing to remember when working with the patient for goals is keeping it conversational.
Example:
NOT: “What are your goals for being in our office.”
INSTEAD: “You said your hips have been hurting, what were you able to do before that you aren’t able to do again since your hip trouble started? Would you like to get back to doing that?”
Getting testimonies is better through conversation as well.
Example:
NOT: “What would you say is the improvement you’ve seen since being at HFC?”
INSTEAD: “Your form says your low back pain has let up. That’s great! When did you notice that? … I see, so you think what you’ve been doing here at HFC has helped with that? … That’s awesome, would it be ok if I write that down and share it with our team as a testimony? … What about on social media?”
We have to get permission from them but we don’t have to get a full page of testimony filled out. A “sound bite” or simple quote will work great for socials.
Referral opportunities are easily spotted, also.
Example:
Patient: “Everything has been great. I was telling my son how much better I’ve felt. He’s super happy for me.”
TECA/TA: “Wow, does your son deal with some of the same issues you’ve dealt with?”
Patient: “Nah, his is more in his neck.”
TECA/TA: “You know, you should let him know that he can get the same $65 New Patient exam you got and learn a lot about what’s happening. We can probably even help him see improvement like we helped you. Would you like a card to give him?”
